Section 9-218.
Court Ordered or Referred Mediation, Marriage Counseling, or
Reconciliation of Domestic Violence Cases Prohibited The court shall not order parties into mediation or any type of counseling, alternative
justice, restorative justice, or any other mediation type of situation that would put the petitioner
in the position of dealing directly with the respondent for resolution of the issues contained in a
petition for a protection order, even if the petitioner is given the option to refuse to participate in
a mediation or similar process.
